What a way to start our week! The sunshine brought smiles to our faces all day! This morning we took our Social Studies quiz. It is divided into two quizzes on Moodle (Continent Quiz, Communities Quiz). Your child can log you in to share his/her results! After that, we had time for cursive practice, math, Engineering Tech, our weekly library checkout time, and our current novel. Finally, we were invited to the Media Center to Skype with Scott Rigsby who is a paraplegic who finished the Ironman Triathalon this past October in Hawaii. He was amazing! After break, beginning when we return in January, we will begin our THRILLING unit on Ecosystems. Kids will be getting their own terrarium and aquarium for their group, which will house real live plants and real live animals!!! For this exciting unit to work, I need two things from families: (1) please send me CLEAR 2 liter pop bottles with caps from now until after break (break homework will be to drink a 2L!!) (2) I am looking for several adult volunteers to take the bottles home and cut them so I can assemble the terrariums and aquariums for the kids. I have a great instruction sheet. It is not hard, it just takes time. Please email me if you would be willing to volunteer. If not, please make one for your child at home. The directions came home last week.

It is so important that your child complete his/her reading homework each night! It is the number one way for your child to improve! Please have your child take some time to read out loud to you. They also love hearing you read and you are a great model for them!

Language Arts: Our “Thanksgiving” paragraph practice is due on Tuesday, January 3rd!

Cursive: We are working hard in class!

Spelling: Our next spelling lists are due on Thursday, December 15th. We will have our spelling test that day as well! We will not receive another spelling list after this test until we get back from break!

Social Studies: Today we had our quizzes on Continents and Communities. If your child scored lower than 9/13 on the Communities Quiz, he/she may try one more attempt at home. If your child scored lower than 4/7 on the Continents Quiz, he/she may try one more attempt at home. Please email me if your child will be making another attempt on either quiz.

Spanish: Please find your teacher’s link on this blog and check for your assignments!

PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO USE THE YELLOW CHECKLIST IN HIS/HER BINDER!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any time!
