We had a great Monday today and it sounds like the kids really enjoyed their half-day off on Friday! This morning we started a new book club and we are focused on the genre of Fantasy. Ask your child what book he/she is reading! After reading, we had Math, our first day of Art, our weekly Media Center checkout time, and a lot of time for Science. It was a great way to start our week!!!

***FYI: Thursday is a late-start day. We will begin at 9:50am. We also go to the Symphony on Thursday!

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR CHILD TO BRING SHARPENED PENCILS TO SCHOOL EACH DAY! PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A PERSONAL PENCIL SHARPENER TO KEEP IN HIS/HER BINDER!!!

It is so important that your child complete his/her reading homework each night! It is the number one way for your child to improve! Please have your child take some time to read out loud to you. They also love hearing you read and you are a great model for them!

3rd Grade Reading: 20 minutes
4th Grade Reading: 30 minutes

3rd Grade Math: HL 6.2
Study multiplication fact 8 for at least 15 minutes. IF you study each night for 15 or more minutes, you should be ready to take the online test on Thursday at home. You will take an online focused timed test this week before Friday at home. If you are ready before Thursday, you can take the test early!

4th Grade Math: JP 151-154 SL 6.5 On JP 153, the “Try This” section is optional!

Language Arts: We received a new paragraph practice called “My Life as a ____________” This is our first two-paragraph assignment! This assignment is due on Tuesday, February 14th!

Cursive: We are working hard in class!

Spelling: Our new spelling assignment went home and it is due on Monday, February 6th.

Social Studies: We are working on Michigan Studies of geography and government!

Spanish: Please find your teacher’s link on this blog and check for your assignments!

PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO USE THE YELLOW CHECKLIST IN HIS/HER BINDER!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any time!
