We had such a nice week!!! Today we started preparing for our Ecosystems unit which will start next week. Then we had the special treat of attending a small portion of the 5th-8th grade spelling bee! We enjoyed watching it! After math, we had Engage, Social Studies, Language Arts, and the celebration of Genevieve’s birthday! It was a wonderful Friday!!!

It is so important that your child complete his/her reading homework each night! It is the number one way for your child to improve! Please have your child take some time to read out loud to you. They also love hearing you read and you are a great model for them!
3rd Grade Reading: 20 minutes
4th Grade Reading: 30 minutes

3rd Grade Math: Go onto IXL and practice multiplication facts for 15 minutes. Mrs. Butzin will see your total on Monday morning. You must log 15 minutes. Of course you can work longer!

4th Grade Math: Today we started learning the traditional multiplication method! While the kids will need to be able to demonstrate the partial-products method, I am encouraging them to use the traditional method as much as possible. The kids have a paper that they need to complete for Monday. Also due Monday is JP 126-129 SL 5.8 and online tests. The codes are QCYT8258, ISOY9281, VWOM4917, and XYVX0220.

Language Arts: Ask your child what is happening in our novel, “Sign of the Beaver,” so far! It is a fantastic book!

Cursive: We are working hard in class!

Spelling: Today we got a new list! The online assignments need to be completed by Friday, January 20th and the test will be that day as well!

Social Studies: Your child has a review sheet for our Unit 2 Social Studies quiz that will take place on Monday. Please sign it and have your child bring it back on Monday when we take the quiz! Just for practice, we completed a practice quiz in class today and this is coming home for studying as well!

Spanish: Please find your teacher’s link on this blog and check for your assignments!

PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO USE THE YELLOW CHECKLIST IN HIS/HER BINDER!

PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A WATER BOTTLE!!! This helps a lot, so he/she does not have to leave the room when thirsty! Your child is also welcome to keep healthy snacks in our classroom to eat any time!
