We had a Fantastic Friday today! We began with math and Swimming. Next, we had snack, Reader’s Workshop, and cursive. After lunch and recess, we had Social Studies and Jack E.’s Star of the Week presentation. He was even nice enough to bring us delicious cookies as a treat! We filled out planners, chose new jobs for next week, and then had Engage. We ended the day by cleaning the room and going outside for some well-deserved recess!!

To the kids: Thank you SO much for being so patient, flexible, and well-behaved while I battled with my lost voice today! I was very impressed with your ability to adapt to the situation. We got so much done and really had a wonderful day together even though I could barely whisper!! Thanks again, and I hope you have an awesome long weekend! See you again on Tuesday! –Ms. Leach

We had a very nice Friday to finish off our week! We began our day with Math and then Swimming. Next, we had snack and Science. Our groups created telegraphs today that could send coded messages a short distance, then worked as a whole class to make one that worked across a longer distance. We learned about the history of these interesting devices and practiced sending “clicks” as messages! Next came lunch and recess. This afternoon, we had Reader’s Workshop and did an activity with Tiger Rising where we analyzed how other characters treated the main character, Rob. We used this activity to look deeper in to our partner books and decide what we could learn about our characters based on how others treated them. Next, we filled out planners and had Jack T. present his Star of the Week info and Q&A. After Engage, we cleaned our room, talked about some announcements for next week, and saved the last 15 minutes of the day for outdoor recess! Have a wonderful weekend!!

ALL MEDIA CENTER BOOKS ARE DUE MAY 28TH. PLEASE TURN THEM IN EARLY IF YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THEM. FINES FOR LOST BOOKS ARE ALSO DUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Let's try to be the first class to get all of our books turned in without any fines!!

SWIMMING TOMORROW! BRING YOUR SWIM GEAR!

Today was a Wonderful Wednesday! We began with math, spelling tests, and Reader’s Workshop. Next, as a prize for everyone being here today ready for NWEA Reading Testing, we watched (most of) the movie Rio! After lunch and recess we had Eng Tech. This afternoon we filled out our planners together and then went to the computer lab to do the NWEA Reading Test. Those of us who finished a bit early got a chance to work on IXL homework or Raz-Kids homework. Once everyone was finished with NWEA, we came back to clean the room and head off to choice hour or home :)

CEREAL BOXES STILL NEEDED AS DONATIONS FOR OUR "FOOD FIGHT" COMPETITION TO COLLECT THE MOST BOXES!
We have collected (in boxes and cash/check donations) a total of 293 boxes of cereal. We only have two days left in our food fight. Last year, the Cereal Champions collected over 500 boxes. We have a long way to go. Cereal or money donations are being accepted through Friday afternoon!
